Hi! I’m dropping by as one of GG’s writing circle to support and follow. My favorite self-care is journaling. It’s the one place I can tell my own truth from day to day. I don’t stress if I can’t do it, but I feel better if I do. ☮️
Hi Karen - thanks so much for introducing yourself here! I'm so grateful to be a part of GG's writing group. She has supported me to open doors of vulnerability that have become medicine for my own self expression through her example. I'm grateful to know any like-hearted individuals like yourself. I'm there with you on the journaling as a top self care practice. Something happens with pen and paper that unlocks my heart - the truest truth, as you expressed. Like you, it doesn't happen daily, but I too feel better when I'm able to do it. Blessings to you, Karen!
“To reiterate: I can't get there through behaviors that aren't rooted in a foundation of caring for me, caring about me, and knowing the ‘me’ that I'm actually caring about.” Beautiful. I, too, believe self-care, boundaries, is a way of life and being, not tasks to tick off the list or get a gold star for. It’s the sum of the thoughts we feed ourselves and the way we treat ourselves. When we include ourselves in our actions and choices instead of being afterthought or excluded in the quest to centre everything and everyone else, we show up and make choices in way that cares for us in the process.
I am always honored when you offer your reflections here on my writing, Natalie. Thank you. I've been so prone to the 'gold stars' effect in my life and it nearly ruined me. I could not have said it better that it's so much about my thought-life. This has been my biggest work underneath all the recovery practices for sure. Our cells really do know what we're thinking! Working on centering my Self. I'm going back through your podcast right now, btw, and appreciating your words on so many of these topics that we circle around in common. Thank you so much!
